Virgin Money has opened a branch in your area and is looking to develop the community by assisting budding entrepreneurs to start up their ventures. You have been made aware of the opportunity and the requirements that would lead you to obtain the funding   Activity 1   The first step is to attend a training session which is conducted by Virgin Money that provides you with a better understanding of the pitching and negotiation process. The session is followed by a formal assessment which requires you to produce a portfolio containing a report.   The report must demonstrate your understanding by;   Critically evaluating and determining the different sources of entrepreneurial ideas and innovation. This should be supported by a reasoned judgement on the benefits and drawbacks of different approaches and sources that can lead to the identification of entrepreneurial ideas. Drucker’s seven sources of systematic innovation should be used to support your argument and specific examples provided.Adopting a critical stance and offering an evaluation on a specific entrepreneurial idea based on appropriate interpretation and investigation of the competitive marketplace. The report should also provide a reasoned rationale and justification for a specific entrepreneurial idea of how it fills the market gap by using relevant tools and techniques to support your choice. Activity 2   As part of the assessment, you are required to make a presentation supported by a handout to a group of mock investors. The pitch will provide an analysis of the data using appropriate specific sources and methods to provide justified business objectives and identify market potential. Furthermore, the pitch will present and interpret relevant data to demonstrate how it can be used to identify the potential market and the viability of an entrepreneurial idea mentioned above.         Activity 3   Following the mock investor meeting, you have been asked to produce a report that will critically evaluate the same specific entrepreneurial idea in the context of the marketplace and competition. This will lead to you offering a valid conclusion supported by justified recommendations on managing and sustaining a specific entrepreneurial idea. You will conduct a SWOT analysis and demonstrate your understanding by evaluating the relevant competitive marketplace.             RECORD OF ACTIVITY Observation Record                       *Witness statement*  Learner name:  ………………..Qualification:HND BusinessUnit number & title:Identifying Entrepreneurial OpportunitiesName of Observer/ Witness:  Date of Activity:…………………  Assessment criteria targeted:  LO3: P3Present data needed to support gap analysis in the evaluation of a specific entrepreneurial idea.LO3: P4Interpret data appropriately to provide evidence of market potential.LO3: M3Justify specific sources and methods of data collection chosen and how data relates to identifying market potential.LO3: D3Analyse appropriate specific sources and methods of data to provide justified business objectives and identify market potential.Description of activity undertaken: (what the learner did)the evidence provided/questions asked and answers given:  The learner completed a pitch that addressed the following:   Relevance/Knowledge An in-depth discussion of the data:Data analysis Delivers a convincing pitch   Notes:                 Analysis: Appropriate/relevant use of pitching and negotiation termsProvides an effective analysis of tools usedThe reasoning behind the proposed pitch   Notes:     The presentation/ structure is: CreativeDynamicClear, concise, eye contactEffective with tables, figures and quotesTimelyLogical     Notes:             Research/Referencing Quotes referenced correctlyReference list providedHarvard Referencing system followedBetween 11 – 15 slides   Notes:             Body language and SPAG etc:             Additional tutor comments:Please state evidence this record is in support of:         I confirm this is an accurate record of the activity undertakenLearner signature: Date: *Assessor/*Witness signature: *please delete as applicable Role:Tutor and assessor.Date:  Submission Format: Activity 1 and 3 A formal report which will include appropriate headings, paragraphs, subsections and illustrations as appropriate, and all work must be supported with research and referenced using the Harvard referencing system.
