Lesson 5 Assignment #1: Multiple Intelligences Strengths and Weaknesses
In Chapter 8 you are presented with information regarding Howard Gardner’s
theory of multiple intelligences. Provide an overview of MI theory, that is explain MI theory and explain the different intelligences. Be specific. Using the internet search “Multiple Intelligences Inventories”. Select an inventory to complete to assess your strengths and weaknesses? Which areas of intelligence are your strengths? In which are you the least proficient? If you could strengthen one area which would it be and how might you go about strengthening this area over the next month? Be sure to reference the inventory you completed and all other resources.
Lesson 5 Assignment #2: Supporting Arguments for Three Views of Language Development: Group Discussion Board
In this activity you will have the opportunity to further your understanding of the three major views of language development: biological, behavioral, and interactionalist. I will be dividing the class into three groups based on one of the theoretical perspectives and creating a discussion board for each group to carry out your online dialogue.
First, each group should identify the basis of language development that their theoretical perspective assumes and generate evidence that supports that view using your text and other research material you find. Once your group has pulled together the information, I would like each group to post a summary of their position to the whole class Discussion board presenting arguments and evidence for their perspective. Lastly, I would like each of you to take a position on the theories of language development. Which position makes the most sense to you having read the arguments and evidence? If you like, you may generate a new perspective and this new perspective may include components of the three that were provided. You can place this response in the main Discussion Board for the whole class based on your group number and label it personal view.
I will be placing you into small discussion groups. To access your group for the Language assignment you should click on the “Groups” tab and you should see the group that you have been assigned. You can email members of your group, exchange files, post to the group discussion board, etc. You may decide to post ideas within your group discussion board first and then someone within the group may organize the information for that group to post to the main discussion board.
