This assignment ask for students to analyze a Hoover company preferably one that the student knows very well. After analyzing the list of Hoover company I realize that I knew one restaurant better than rest. Being a young adult who has the most of your life in the south Waffle House has become a popular food chain that live on each corner. From my house I have five around me, if you have breakfast love her that is probably your favorite place to go. The company started here in Georgia and has been operating for more than 60 years. (Our Story, 2020) Like many restaurant Waffle House never started with the idea of expanding. Now they are located in 25 states across mostly the south all the way to the midway. This paper will analyze Waffle House in terms of macro-environment and competitive factors used without the company.

Waffle House is a restaurant chain started by two neighbors. It was name Waffle House because the two neighbors thought that breakfast especially waffle would be more profitable especially if the restaurant stays open 24 hours. The restaurants working hours are a part of its macro-environment. The Federal emergency management agency or FEMA for short uses Waffle House to measure the affects of storms by measuring how bad a storm is to how long it takes a Waffle House to get back up and running and fully functional. (Our Story, 2020) Another part of the macro-environment is it family friendly culture. This is shown through out the restaurant by the employees that they hire. Waffle House does not discriminate against people who have had troubled backgrounds. This means they offer many adults who could not find employment anywhere else because of your background a second chance at rejoining the society many Waffle House crews act as a family themselves which helps the customers all around experience. Even in a trouble economy Waffle House employees over 10,000 workers, has close to 2000 stores, and even if the heart of a pandemic still managed to make approximately $1 billion in revenue. (Our Story, 2020) The restaurant has fade true to its vision since it opened in the mid 50s offering delicious waffles along with other breakfast items and some lunch items at a reasonable price 24 hours a day.

Of course Waffle House 60 years of being in business has not come without competition. Meaning they are not the only 24 hour restaurant that offers a mixture of breakfast and white lunch foods. Restaurants such as IHOP, Denny and even another Georgian founded restaurant Huddle House. (Waffle House, 2021) Against their competitors Waffle House has remain at the top. They are a staple in the breakfast community and they have the revenue to prove it. Doing my research of the comparison of Waffle House towards their competitors I found the Waffle House came in first in many different categories Such as a favorable CEO profits customer service and satisfaction. Unlike most companies who view competition and then change their basic model of operation Waffle House has continue with their starting model of operation however things such as franchise minutes have changed since the beginning. In the beginning of Waffle House they were not franchise restaurants being offered and now they are.

In many ways Waffle House was a game changer restaurant. They are not many businesses that started in mid 50s that are still around and successful to today especially when it was made to be a small restaurant. The competitors of Waffle House use Waffle House as a model like a plan for success. The environment and culture of Waffle House makes it what it is today and that is a family friendly restaurant where you can get 20 for our waffles and even a steak for a reasonable price and what is not to love about that.
