This week will be the Final Examination. You will have the entire week to review the Essay and write a well-thought out response to the prompt. Be sure use historical thinking skills and take a stand on the prompt. In addition your essay should include a discernible and defensible thesis statement.
Directions: Using the knowledge from this course and readings or source documents that we read answer the following question in a well-thought (6-8 paragraphs) out historical essay.
Question: Evaluate the extent to which debates over slavery in the period from 1830 to 1860 led the United States into the Civil War
– Respond to the prompt with a historically defensible thesis or claim that establishes a line of reasoning.
– Describe a broader historical context relevant to the prompt. Support an argument in response to the prompt using specific and relevant examples of evidence.
– Use historical reasoning to frame or structure an argument that addresses the prompt.
– Use evidence to corroborate, qualify, or modify an argument that addresses the prompt.
