Project Scope and requirements In this section, report outline is discussed. A company which is E-commerce based has few branches across the same city. It is not legal to share all the details of company like name of E-commerce company, head-quarters, number of branches and number of employees. E-commerce business which is located in Brisbane has three branches. All this braches are controlled and monitored from the main branch. Every branch has its own router and other network devices which helps in sharing the information between one branch to other branch. This is possible by making a VPN connection. But in this scenario we will be consider only the one branch requirements. Let’s name one of the branch as A which has four routers, three switches, 20 PC’s and with three VLAN’s. Every network device is perfectly illustrated with specifications and budget involved in this assessment in future sections. This is the requirements of new network design plan over existing network plan. 2. Network design and justification After visiting the E-Commerce company, a new network diagram is drawn based on the current network plan. There are many network simulation tools available in market but we will be considering the tool which is manufactured by Cisco company. Cisco Packet Tracer is a tool which is very powerful for making network simulation and designing the network plan based on the user requirement. As it is an E-commerce business, security at each level plays an important role. So, high end devices which are very powerful and use encryption mechanisms to data which is communicated over company network remains secured. There are attackers which are monitoring the systems 24/7 in order to get access to unauthorized data. In this business, security is high at certain level and low at certain level based on the budget of this project. In this proposed design, firewall is associated at each level of VLAN connection. Network design can be used in future on requirement of exiting design as follows Figure 1: Network Simulation Table 1 consists of the information of IP address which are allocated to each and every network device used in this assessment. Issuing of commands from end user of one VLAN to end user of another VLAN can be performed or communicated. There are two ways by which router is connected to other router. Network topology diagram and implementation A suitable network topology is drawn in network simulation tool and every network device which is connected in this E-commerce business are configured correctly. Network hardware requirement are the devices which are used in E-commerce business like routers, switches, servers, end user devices like computer systems. His cables consist of glass fiber inside its insulated case. This cables are designed especially for long distance with high performance of data and communication purposes. Software Cisco packet tracer is a software that we are using in this project. The top network simulator tool in today’s industries is Cisco Packet tool. This tool is used to test so many labs and practice the network environment with instant output. This tool offers perfect ground to create our own network topology and practice in all different situation. This tool is perfect example for deploying a network in production level. If any uncertain results are occurred, those can be recognized in those tool and later can be implemented on production level without any error. This tool is freely available in market. 6. Network Testing As mentioned earlier, network testing can be performed in this software and then later project is taken into production consideration. All the network devices like routers, switches, hubs, modems, Wi-Fi devices are tested by issuing the ping command. 7. Summary The summary of the report is concluded here. One of the E-commerce business which is in depth reviewed by network engineer and a new network design plan is proposed. New plan consists of four routers, six switches with 20 PC’s. This is designed and tested in cisco packet tracer tool. This design will produce security of high level which is actually required in future. The importance of security in online E-commerce business is must because personal details of customers in engaged in it. To remain data, secure of customer, security is provided of high level. Devices are configured with certain IP address and each device is tested by issuing respective commands from end user. Apart from this, the path followed by data packets is also detected in cisco packet tracer tool by this command “tracert ”.
