Companies are not always immune to security breaches, but the implementation of data encryption is the safest way to protect confidential information as well as the reputation of the organisation with current and future client. One may ask why you must encrypt your data? In short because of how easy and how important it is. Now adays encryption and data security are easier to be implanted by IT pros as more and more organisations are using it. Understanding it is importance and will have a role to improve its future, particularly as we are aware that the data security is currently the highest priority. As we all know the importance of safeguarding personal information and data for our customer. That is why all documents must be encrypted. But what does the encryption exactly mean? Encryption is “the process of converting information or data into an indecipherable code while in transit or storage. This prevents any unauthorized access from malicious third-parties and keeps your personal information under lock and key” (nordic-backup.com). https://nordic-backup.com/blog/what-is-encryption-and-why-is-it-necessary/ Due to the importance of data encryption to protect your sensitive data online and on computer, in this project I am going to analyse and show data encryption in Oracle and its impact on database storage and performance. I will be applying different types of encryption and different levels. Will do the full test and impact of performance of three types of encryption in Oracle. ObjectivesTo implement database encryption keys and manage encryption keys. To encrypt data on tables in oracle. To encrypt columns data. To encrypt five level data. Encryption with/without salt. Different encryption key sizes. Then a full test script will be produced to compare date query/manipulation on Encrypted column/table compared to ordinary set up. Timing and storage details will be recorded and analysed.
