For this homework, you will need to load the PolityV data into SPSS. Then:
Convert all polity scores below -10 to NA
Plot the mean polity scores over time (similar to what we did in class)
Add a verticle line at 1989
Add a trend line (just a simple linear regression) of democracy over time in the pre-1989 time frame
Add another trend line of democracy over time in the post-1989 period
Discuss the argument that the end of the Cold War was associated with democratization
Paste the SPSS code used and your argument into one document
Add the final plot to this document, and submit only this document
