The personal statement is your primary opportunity to discuss who you are beyond the application basics. We are particularly interested in how your academic and professional background has led to your decision to study law. This is not the place to repeat items on your resume/curriculum vitae (CV). Please address the following questions in your personal statement:
– Why do you want to pursue the MSL(Master of Studies in Law) degree at USC Gould?
– How do you plan to use this degree to advance your career?
– What strategies will you put into place to be a successful online graduate student?
The personal statement should be two to three pages, double-spaced and in at least 12-point font. We value essays that are clear, concise, and compelling.
Hello,
A little about myself I attended Los Medanos College after high school and received my Associates of Science in Administration of Justice from their sister college Diablo Valley community college from 2014-2016. Transferred to San Francisco State University start of 2017 and graduated with my Criminal Justice degree in summer of 2018. Then shortly after in 2018 I attended John F. Kennedy University for their paralegal studies certificate course. I completed a semester there before deciding to pursue my graduate degree in law. The paralegal course helped me identify where in legal field I want to be. I would like to take the fully online course at usc where I can purse my master in law degree and specialize in Human resource law and compliance law. I would like to pursue a career as part of a legal consul at a global tech company(corporate setting). I’ve been reading about USC program for quite a while now and believe this is my future home of study. This will help me purse my next step in my life where I can continue my work and be able to study my master degree while it is fully online. I believe USC is an amazing and prestigious university where it would be a privilege to be apart of. I would like to be continue practicing law until retirement as a long term goal. Short term: To complete my graduate degree and get my feet back into the legal field… I will forward my work resume as well. If any other information is needed please let me know. Thank you.
