– Example 1: Select one case study where you highlight an example of racialization experienced in education, labor, military, and/or a public space, and contrast it with a different case study to highlight how Latinas/os/x responded to their racialized status.
– Example 2: Select two cases studies to compare and contrast how Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans experienced racialization and how they responded to their racialized status.
External (How Latinx experience racialization): “Racialization, as an ideology and practice, will assign Latina/os a subordinate racial and socio-economic status in the United States that in turn justifies their social and political marginalization.”
Internal (How Latinx respond to racialization): “Racialization is a part of a dialectical process. Those groups who are subordinated not only challenge and contest but also contribute to the racialization of themselves and others.”
