Case Portfolio Topics
Analyse the managerial challenges that the The Rise and Fall of Blackberry case study presents (you will need to use the information from both cases):
Part A – Identify the Strategy problem (Required topic for PART A, revise after receiving feedback and resubmit in PART B)
Part B – Identify the Organisational Culture, Leading OR Organising (Choose 2 from the 3) problems (SEPARATELY) (Required topics for PART B).
You will need to identify one key problem Blackberry has experienced in the case for three of the four abovementioned topics. Choose major problems not symptoms.Refer to the Case Study Portfolio Instructions document for the details of the structure and contents. When conducting research you MUST NOT look for further information on what has transpired in Blackberry after 2016. Do not look for additional information about what Blackberry did. The purpose of the case analysis is for you to put yourself in the shoes of the top management at that point in time and how you would solve the problems. DO NOT look for what Blackberry did after the case study timeline. You may look for cases of other companies that have implemented similar strategies and what they did to get an idea of what possible actions you can suggest. However, this needs to be backed up by theory and research as well. It is also important to note that the contexts (external and internal) in organisations are very different and what might work for one organisation might not work for another.
