1. BreastScreen NSW. Aims to detect breast cancer early by encouraging women aged 50-74 to have a free mammogram every 2 years. Early detection results early treatment and treatment is most successful when
the cancer is still small and has not spread to other parts of the body. We know that screening rates among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) populations, and among women living with socio-economic
disadvantage are lower than in the general population.

2. Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination program. Administered to school students (female and male) in year 7 (beginning of high school) to prevent HPV related diseases including cervical cancer and other cancers. The HPV
vaccine is recommended by the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and funded under the National Immunisation Program. Uptake of the vaccine among recent immigrant populations is low.
