Task:
You are required to undertake a literature review on a topic associated with your specialty practice. This review will include only primary research articles (original quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods studies) and/or secondary research articles (systematic reviews or meta analyses). You are required to include five (5) articles in your review. However, you are expected to use other references to support your points within the review.
Using the following headings and subheadings to structure your report:
1. Title
State the title of your review
2. Introduction
Describe the structure of your essay, outlining your argument and the points you will develop in the essay
3. Background
Provide a background summary of the chosen topic from your specialty practice
4. Significance
Explain the significance of this literature review
5. Aims and Objectives
State the aims and objectives of this literature review
6. Research Question
Develop your research question using the PICO/PICo framework
7. Search Strategy
Briefly outline your search strategy with the following information:
• What keywords did you use to search for the evidence?
• What databases did you use to search for the evidence?
• What methods did you use to search for the evidence?
8 Article Inclusion
Using the PRISMA diagram, describe the elimination process to arrive at the five (5) chosen articles for review. Copy and paste the PRISMA diagram into your word document. The diagram is not included in the word count.
9. Article Appraisal
Appraise each article using the appropriate JBI appraisal tool for the five (5) articles. Copy and paste your five JBI appraisal tools into your word document. The JBI tools are not included in the word count.
Synthesise the evidence of the five (5) chosen articles including the methodological strengths and weaknesses of the studies, using external literature to substantiate your argument.
