Purpose:

You are asked to answer two questions below to show you understand the roles of the various professionals working in the field and their different worldviews. Also, to Demonstrate an understanding of critical thinking/analysis to child maltreatment issues and research. This aligns with learning objectives one, two, and five on your syllabus.

 

Task: This is what I am asking you to do and what skills you will need to use. 

Read the chapter presented. 

Highlight the areas of focus based on the questions you select. 

Type the two questions you have selected to present. 

Use and reference the textbook to support your answer. (Use a cite engine if you need to learn how).

Google the topic you are presenting, share what local, national, or international information you found. Did something stand out to you?

Explore a culturally inclusive perspective. How do other cultures/ethnicity address the presenting issue? How do other countries address or not address this issue?

Explore who does this information include, exclude, or effect or impact. (Example, Do we have historical information and examples of Social Bonding Theory in other cultures?)

Use some self-care after every chapter for every negative the world needs a positive.

 

Criteria for Success: 

Present the two questions you selected, type them and present with the listed skills above. Each question is worth 3.5 points. This is due to Wednesday’s

Demonstrate critical thinking skills around the questions, making sure to present a well-rounded answer and citations of where you took your information.

Present a compelling argument using the textbook and current information from online research.

Respond constructively to at least two peers, sharing what you learned from them and what you would like to know more about. Each peer review is worth 1.5 points. Due Saturday

Chapter 8:

1. Describe the reason why some child maltreatment cases identified by CPS may result in death? Feel free to reference a local case and share your viewpoint before this class and now?

2. What are some of the cultural differences that might influence people’s views concerning child maltreatment? Why do professionals who work with child maltreatment victims and their families need to be culturally sensitive?

3. How are the professionals who interact with child maltreatment surveyors affected by their work?

4. What can be done to treat and prevent secondary traumatic stress? Offer some age-appreciate options for children, youth, adolescents, and adults.
