Final paper
This is the accumulation of all the discussion, writing and theorizing you have done in class. It is an open project with many possibilities. You just want to make sure you choose a topic that either most interests you or the topic you feel most comfortable researching. Honestly, I even challenge you to write about something that confuses you. So you have several weeks to research and understand that better, your proposal should match your final. But if you change your mind, you must email me. The first thing you want to do is choose between a paper or Wikipedia project, a video essay or horror short. If you do paper and must be four to six full pages, and it is graded the same way your short response papers are, if you do Wikipedia project, you must have at least five subheadings with ample content within those pages underneath your main topic. If you do a video as they must be at least 15 to 20 minutes. The parameters for the horse are in the syllabus. The thing that is the same across all these projects is that you have to prepare a methodical argument that discusses a particular sub genre of genre cinema within a more specific context. For example, do you want to talk about LGBT representation and French horror films? Do you want to talk about an archetype within the monstrous feminine? Do you want to discuss the religious implications of Iranian horror? The sky’s the limit. You can even expand them to television projects web series video games are cultures, whatever you decide has to be articulated. If your thesis doesn’t make sense, I’ll make you reward it. This happens a lot of the time, so don’t be too discouraged. If I do make you look at your topic again. Sometimes the more specific your thesis or project idea, the better it is for you to argue.
