Comparing Decision-Making Models

The four kinds of decision-making models are rational, bounded rationality, intuitive, and creative.

Rubrics

In your response posts to at least two peers, explain how the model you recommended using compares with the model your peers recommended using and how it would influence the decision-making process and outcome. You may use the following questions to help develop your response:

What can examining a business problem through the lens of different decision-making models teach us about decision making?

What other business decisions or situations would your peers’ recommended decision-making models be most appropriate to use for, and why?

What other business decisions or situations would your recommended decision-making model be most appropriate to use for, and why?

Do you have questions for your peers about why they recommended the model they did?

My Model

By considering the above situations and statements, I feel that RATIONAL and BOUNDED RATIONALITY are the best decision models that would help make the hiring decision.

With the rational and intuitive decision-making processes, it may make it easier to decide which candidate will be the best fit for the new position.  When it comes to the rational decision-making process, we know that the problem is that we need to make someone in charge of the online presence.  In this process we can compare both candidates and compile different alternatives to evaluate them.  We can then choose the best alternative and then evaluate the decision.

With the intuitive decision-making process, we can take more of a look at what we believe the candidates will be able to excel at.  We can see that one may look better on paper but the other we have a gut-feeling would be bringing more experience of the company with them.

I would choose the rational decision-making progress if the decision were up to me.  Ultimately, I would choose Michael for the position because of his experience working in internet-based positions.  Although Myra is still a very strong candidate, I believe it will be easier for Michael to learn about the company and industry than it would be for Myra to learn an entirely new skillset of working and creating an online presence.  Michael and Myra both have experience of the company, although Myra’s is greater, but Michael is the only candidate with experience running something online based.

Hello everyone,

The two decision making models I will be comparing are the Rational process and the Intuitive process. The rational process uses a step by step process to solve problems and make decisions. The intuitive process is based more on what I see as experience and personal knowledge. I feel the most important decision making process in regards to hiring individuals is the rational process. This allows you to establish minimum requirements for hiring and allows you to find a group of qualified individuals to fill  the open position. It allows you to weed out to weak and then focus more on them personally in the interviews. All good companies should utilize both processes when hiring individuals to work for their companies.
