Yes. They should be punished because according to the whistle blowers, many warnings were sent regarding many faulty problems in the manufactures and the designs. And even though they received these warnings, they have not acted upon them and tried to solve the problems. In fact, they even tried to hide these problems and convert the rejections into acceptances.
Why Australian authorities failed to follow the airbag recall by the US government?
According to the video, the Australian authorities did not follow the recall made by the US government because they were not any accidents or problems made in the Australia causing them to not have any actual proof or reason to act upon until the first accident was made.
Do you believe that engineers who detected that ammonium nitrate was the deadly chemical in the airbag should have reported their findings to the authorities? Why? Or why not?
Yes. The engineers should have reported their findings to the authorities because even though it may be considered as a confidential information, it still has the potential of causing many deaths and risks the safety of the people. Therefore, as the only people who know about these risks, they should have known about the nature of their supervisors and tried to stop them as soon as possible.
Discuss the important of ethics in the case of Takata producing a product that causes harm to the consumer?
In this case, there were many types of ethics that were broken by the company neglecting their importance. And due to this, many deaths were caused in US and Australia, many people lost members of their family, some people could not sleep feeling that they were responsible for these deaths and many other companies being dragged into this problem.
In your own word summarize your thought in one paragraph why do you believe the problem has not been resolved?
I believe that the problem has not been resolved because of two major reasons. The first is that the Takata Company did not get charged by strict punishments and penalties causing them to really understand the severity of their actions and t be represented as an example for the other companies so that they do not do the same. And the other is because of what was mentioned at the end of the video, which is that the airbags were replaced by new ones made by the same company and the same deadly chemical that is in the bag causing them to still hold the same effects which will eventually lead to deaths after 6 years.
