It is the world’s second-biggest broadcasting and cable television firm by revenue, as well as the US’ leading pay-tv and Internet services provider. “It develops cutting-edge technology and entertainment that brings millions of people closer to the events and experiences that matter most to them.” (Comcast, 2019) Its cable systems service more than 30 million subscribers, making it the largest pay-TV provider in the United States. It has almost 30 million users to its broadband internet service, around 21 million to its TV service, and ten million to its telephony service. The firm holds NBC Universal, which includes the NBC television network as well as the DreamWorks Animation and movie studios Universal Pictures. Comcast also owns the cable channels MSNBC, CNBC, and the USA Network. The Universal Studios theme parks and Telemundo, a prominent Spanish-language TV network, are among Comcast’s other businesses (McGuigan & Pickard, 2016).

Comcast expected its capital expenditures for 2020 to be centered on continuing to invest in scalable infrastructure to boost network capacity in its Cable Communications section; increasing investment in line extensions for both residential and business advancement; and continuing to deploy wireless gateways (McGuigan & Pickard, 2016).

It capitalizes on a distributed enterprise’s remote connectivity business opportunity by providing rapid, fairly low cable modem connections to branch offices, franchises, and other locations.
Marketing Manager Position at Comcast
Marketing managers are in charge of creating, designing, and executing marketing strategies for an entire company (or for specific lines of business and brands within a company) to acquire new customers and keep existing ones. This could include promotional initiatives such as contests or freebies, as well as print, billboard, and broadcast advertising campaigns. Experts are also in charge of overseeing advertising deals and tracking market trends to learn more about customer preferences and potential marketing prospects.

Education: Should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or a related subject at the very least. A Master’s degree in business or marketing preferred.
Experience: should have a minimum of 8 years, or more of experience in marketing, preferably in a similar industry.

The marketing managerial post is fundamental to the realization of Comcast Corporation’s mission and vision. For instance, hiring a marketing manager will see the firm investigating and assess new product opportunities, prospective product demand, and customer wants and insights. The manager leads a team that is dedicated to delivering to the mission, and vision of the firm. With the company’s aim of providing amazing technology and entertainment that links a lot of lives to the moments and experiences that matter most, the marketing department will foster this mission through its creation of marketing strategies through various platforms to acquire a large market share to sell its products. The firm’s strategic goal is to gain a competitive advantage over its rivals in the market. This can only be fostered through marketing and advisement programs triggered by the marketing department under the leadership of the marketing manager
Purpose of marketing manager position within the company
The marketing manager role is fundamental in ensuring that the firm’s operations run smoothly without hiccups especially in marketing the firm’s products and services. The marketing manager post will help the company align with its new organizational strategy that fosters its broadband-enabled services which aim to go beyond simple connectivity and fast data transfer rates to a larger customer base, thus making the firm acquire a potential market share for its products and services. Besides, the position will oversee the marketing approaches for the firm’s approaches thus guaranteeing more sales that will enhance revenue generation, and as a result will lead to the growth of the corporation (Mader-Clark, 2013).
The marketing manager position will also work to ensure that Comcast Corporation realizes its mission in providing amazing technology and entertainment that links moments and experiences that matter most. This will be realized through the marketing department headed by the marketing manager that will devise mechanisms through various platforms such as social media to reach many people and make market the firm’s products and services.
The marketing manager does the following day-to-day functions:
Investigate and assess new product opportunities, prospective product demand, and customer wants and insights.
Develop marketing strategies and plans for already-existing products.
Assist finance and product development teams in analyzing the viability of possible markets before product creation.
Ensure that all promotional activities, including the firm website, print communications, and advertising, are successful and branded.
Manage the development of new products with the help of product development teams (Mader-Clark, 2013).
Explanation on how I determined duties and qualifications for the job
I developed the qualifications and duties of a marketing manager based on contemporary industry and market trends on the acquisition of human resources by various multinational corporations. For Comcast corporation to favorably and effectively compete with its rivals in the market, it needs to be a bar in terms of its human resource expertise and competence. Therefore, in drafting the duties and responsibilities of the marketing manager, I had to keep an eye on other firms’ priorities before setting them up. Besides, I based my selection on previous similar existing positions in the industry.
Laws Considered when creating the Job Description
In establishing the job description, I conformed to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as indicated by Mader-Clark (2013), which establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, and record keeping, for the market managerial post. This implies that the salary range bestowed on the post was market satisfactory.
