Assessment Task Description
PART A – Workplace Assessment and Report
Your allocated job role is City of Gold Coast Council Lifeguard. You are required to gather background information regarding the job, including tasks performed, equipment used, PPE required, tickets/qualifications required, and risks associated with the job.
You are to select Scenario 1 of the Worker Scenarios. You are then required to complete a ‘workplace assessment’ using this chosen worker scenario. You will identify inherent demands of the job and assess these areas for physical and psychological demands and associated risks. You are required to provide recommendations for controls to manage these risks and/or recommend processes required to improve the health and safety for this worker.
Your risk assessment and task analysis MUST be included as an appendix and uploaded as a SEPARATE document. This document may be released to the City of Gold Coast Council (following vetting of the document) to assist them in the management of their workplace risks.
Your report should reflect good industry practice and include photos/images of the job task you are assessing. You may be required to flesh out your scenario for the purpose of the report, so to contextualise. Use the following headings as a guide for your report:
Worker Information:
Background:
Medical History:
Injury Information:
Current Treatments / Management of Injury:
Functional Tolerances:
Work/ Employment Details:
Job Tasks: Identified Issues:
Recommendations:
PART B – Ergonomic Computer Workstation Assessment and Report
You are required to select 1 (one) worker and perform an ergonomic computer workstation assessment with that worker. You should consider the person, their environment and the occupation. You are required to write a brief report (approximately 2 pages), including your findings and any recommendations for improvements so to minimise risk to the worker, and prevent workplace injury.
For the purpose of this assessment, please apply Worker Scenario 3 – Rachel – shoulder injury.
Use the following headings as a guide for your report. You may combine headings in a meaningful way:
Worker Information:
Background: Medical History:
Injury Information:
Current Treatments / Management of Injury:
Work/Employment Details: Equipment Used:
Environment: Identified Issues: Recommendations:
Other Information:
Please ensure you use APA referencing where appropriate.
Ensure your report is formatted with double spacing.
Upload each report as a SEPARATE document. Please also note the previous requirement to upload your appendices as separate documents.
The ‘audience’ for these reports is the workplace (e.g., Manager). Please ensure you write these reports in a suitable format for this purpose. This includes formatting, content, and signing off the report with your name, signature, and qualifications/designation.
