Martinrea is A Community

Martinrea employs about 300 workers ranging from laborers to supervisors to managers and administrative associates. The company is small and close knit. They do not usually interact with larger functions, but rather smaller events within the people of the workplace and the community in which Martinrea operates. The, not so small, business manufactures fuel fillers for automobile companies such as GM, Ford, Fiat/Chrysler and even Cummins Engine Plant. Martinrea is a diverse working community which employs workers from all over and is very open to promoting within the walls of the business. There are so many reasons why Martinrea is considered a family. The administrative staff is always looking for suggestions of anything and everything that will help the company as a whole and the people who work here flourish from each other. It is unlikely you would find this business to be selfish, as we are a community of people working together to serve a purpose of well-being and a sense of worth. The culture of Martinrea focuses on the golden rule philosophy of dignity and respect, treat others as you would like to be treated. At Martinrea, we believe that all flow through one another building upon making our employees and customers’ lives better. Martinrea participates in community outreach, supporting universal human rights and contributing to communities around the world. Enriching lives in our communities has been one of the greatest returns on investment. From working with nonprofits on sustainability efforts and assembling sports team to raise funds for children in need, to developing young talent through nationwide manufacturing days and international cohort programs, Martinrea also values cultural traditions in all countries we are proud to represent. During Covid, Martinrea shut down for approximately two months but that did not stop members of the community from coming together to show what each other has been doing during our time off. We often sent in pictures via our online FaceBook community webpage of ourselves with our families depicting what we have been doing with our time in quarantine. Even upon returning to work we tried to maintain similar values of coming together and showing appreciation for one another. Martinrea was used to scheduling various days throughout the year dedicated to appreciating its employees and their families. The administrative staff would often prepare popcorn to enjoy for free during work. The plant manager would schedule a monthly meeting to update all employees of what was going on within the company. With Covid, much of those things we took for granted had come to a halt due to the mandate to mask up and maintain a six-foot distance between people. It is understandable for the company to maintain safety practices but also a bit uncomfortable to have to make such changes when used to doing things a certain way and having a routine. After Covid, Martinrea chose to pay a vendor to distribute snow cones to the workers to show its appreciation. We also organize fundraising events for the people employed in case of emergency, called employee relief fund. Martinrea is a community that is always finding ways to reach out to the community and those it employs. One time, Martinrea gave every employee a card preloaded with $20 that was to be used for donation purposes. On the card was a website which contained various charity foundations collecting donations for individual fundraising events. Martinrea gave away hundreds of dollars to its employees to pay it forward to a charity of choice. I personally thought that was pretty amazing. I divided mine between two businesses, donating $10 to each and showing support for their fundraising event.

In conclusion, Martinrea is very diverse with its business and the company it keeps. This is a wonderful place to work and wonderful people to be part of their culture and values. Everything from personal functions to community awareness, Martinrea is a family proving every single day that with communication and understanding anything is possible in our little, or should I say big, family. I am very proud to be a part of the Martinrea community and hope to grow as a part of the community, business, family that is Martinrea.
