A typical example of what privilege looks like in today’s society is someone who is a white university-educated male and from a rich family and lives in an urban city. They live a luxurious lifestyle because they earn much more money, they have more experience than average people and their ancestors may have been European settlers who first came to Canada.

 Power and privilege continue existing social inequality because they have the ability to access more opportunities and resources, since the beginning of their life. Their parents may start with making their life easier by choosing a private school. Children make networks in school with those people who are from rich families. They think that they are responsible to create a society that matches their viewpoints. These private schools are too expensive for the average family, excluding perspectives from other groups of people. These result in dominant ideologies becoming standardized in current society. Even when people think about social inequality, the elites are able to decide whether they will consider it. If the elites think it should be oppressed, they tend to ignore the problems or make them invisible in society. All of our ideologies have been developed by socialization and systems that the previous elites prefer. Therefore, social inequality can exist in present society.
