Preliminary Instructions: Review the PDF of the “Ethics Ten Central Questions”
Construct a multi-Paragraph Essay for the below prompt.
The essay should be no less than 800 words but try not to exceed 1,000 words.
Your essay should have an identifiable thesis that states the position and gives the reader a rudimentary outline. If you want to direct your audience to it, then underline the thesis.
The essay should conform to M.L.A. formatting: a heading (left-justified), one-inch margins, pagination in the header (right-justified), double-spaced, and the font & size should be no larger than Arial 12 point (please do not use any weird fonts).
Paragraphs should be at minimum of five sentences.
You WILL use at least one source for this essay. When using outside sources (paraphrasing, direct quotations ▬ but avoid block quotations), you must cite them both parenthetically and on the Works Cited at the end of your essay (M.L.A. style).
Avoid first-person perspective, conversational English, contractions, inclusive pronouns, etc. While this is an opinion essay, it should be written academically (Standard Edited Written American English) and supported with both logical and/or empirical facts to make the position defensible.
Prompt: Choose one of the Ten Central Questions and construct an academic answer for it. You MUST use something from Shafer-Landau’s The Fundamentals of Ethics ▬ for example, a normative theory, a meta-ethical theory, etc. Make sure to cite what you use from Shafer-Landau’s text. If you use other sources, make certain that you cite those as well. Avoid block quotations!
A good essay: Will only address one of the Ten Central Questions, will be written in Standard Edited Written American English, will use at least one concept from Shafer-Landau’s The Fundamentals of Ethics, and will be formatted per the assignment’s instructions.
Ten central question
What is morality all about? Is morality about rigorously obeying a set of rules no matter what or is it about carefully considering the consequences of one’s actions?
