Healthcare Quality Improvement Strategies
Nurses play the most significant role in the sustainability of quality healthcare; from performing basic tests on patients to administering prescribed drugs to patients, nurses boost the overall success of every healthcare sector in all nations. Advanced nursing practice has many beneficial impacts, more so to the patients who benefit from nurses’ services; the results include reduced death rates in hospitals, early disease diagnosis, and even accurate disease diagnosis.
The health sector always faces a strong challenge in managing nurses; an increase in job opportunities and nurses’ influx in the market makes it even more difficult. Nursing administrators strive to maintain the number of nurses in most health facilities to improve overall healthcare performance (Zacagnini and Pechacek, 2019). Maintaining an average number of nurses enables a more accessible rollout of health services with a lot of ease.
Staff Nurse Retention Rate is a crucial issue that influences the performance of nurses. In the administration of healthcare services, the more the health workers perform their duties, the more knowledge and experience they gain in their respective fields (Kleinman 2004). Retention of nurses for a much longer duration improves the overall performance and output of a nurse. Regular performance of services like examining patients, disease diagnosis, and even caregiving services equips the nurses with more knowledge and skills relevant to their duties. Longer nurse retention rates enable nurses to research more on their fields to improve on their performances at large.
Healthcare at large is faced with challenges to maintain quality nurses that provide quality services. Some organizations lure away outstanding nurses with lucrative deals; this leaves an overall blow to the healthcare department.
