Sports science support should be founded on relevant theories or principles that relate specifically to the Dhaulagiri expedition and altitude (i.e. cognitive function during high altitude etc.) You should provide an outline of the relevant theories and principles associated with all four disciplines (physiology, psychology, nutrition, biomechanics) and interdisciplinary considerations. You should critically evaluate the acute responses in the context of preparing the athlete for and completing the Dhaulagiri expedition (Altitude). You must make use of relevant and scientifically rigorous literature to support your critical evaluations (40%)
3. Preparation strategies
Detailed description of the chosen strategies to prepare the ATHLETE for the Dhaulagiri expedition in the extreme environment. This should include a critical evaluation of all strategies to justify your selection. The chosen strategies can be aligned to a single discipline or use an interdisciplinary approach. Be clear which discipline (physiology, psychology, nutrition, biomechanics) or disciplines (i.e. interdisciplinary) you have selected for the preparation section. You should design and detail a preparation strategy for your athlete for completing the Dhaulagiri expedition. Your preparation strategy should be clearly linked to the selected discipline (s) you identify and associated scientific evaluation. You should clearly identify and critically evaluate any preliminary measures that would be completed prior to any interventions you would prescribe. Where applicable, you should clearly identify and critically evaluate any pre and post intervention measures that would be completed. You should clearly identify any preparation strategies that you would prescribe including detail where relevant on methods, procedures, protocols, equipment,
timescales etc. You should critically evaluate different methodologies, protocols and/or equipment to justify your chosen preparation strategies (e.g. chronic adaptions to justify the preparation strategies). Details of different methodologies / protocols can be presented in a table. You must make use of relevant and scientifically rigorous literature to support your critical evaluations and preparation strategies. (40%)
4. Reference list
Academic references are provided and correctly utilise Harvard Referencing format to integrate citations/ references. A suitable academic reference list is also provided and justified by the work (10%).
Quality of written presentation, including spelling and grammar, logical structure and progression (5%)
