Here’s what you will do:

As an individual, you will submit a thoroughly written analysis of the group processes involved in achieving your group’s goals (including such things as group roles, decision making, goal setting, group conflict, leadership, group cohesiveness, etc.).

Please cite at least three concepts from the group chapter of the text.

(Earnheardt & O’Neill, 2017 Chapter 8 Section 2)

“Group interaction can be profiled using the task and socioemotional categories of Robert Bales (1976). When observing a group discussion, using the four categories of interaction and twelve subcategories of comment types, we can map group interaction and determine how cohesive a group may be. Ideally, a highly cohesive group will have no more than a ratio of two socioemotional comments to one task comment, with a significant number of comments being positive rather than negative.

Positive Reactions:

Shows tension release (jokes, laughs, shows satisfaction) mostly me, McKayla

Shows agreement (passive acceptance, understands, concurs, complies) mostly Bryan and Faisal

Attempted Answers:

Gives suggestion, direction (implying autonomy for others) McKayla

Gives opinion (evaluation, analysis, expresses feeling, wish) Bryan and Mckayla

(Earnheardt & O’Neill, 2017 Chapter 10 Section 1)” When using the Reflective Thinking Method (RTM) in group problem solving, learning becomes an active and involved constructive process. Learning is stimulated by being immersed in the discovery of new information and ideas”

(Earnheardt & O’Neill, 2017 Chapter 9 Section1 ) “Virtual groups are defined as groups of three or more individuals who meet solely online to accomplish some task (either short or long term) across organizational and geographical boundaries”

This should be based solely on your observations as a group member.

Critique your group and individual group members.

Mckayla: initiative, friendly, conscientious, understanding, funny

Bryan: kind, easy-going, introvert, confident

Faisal: cooperative, conscientious, respectful, introvert

Did everyone work equally to achieve the group’s goals?

No, some of us were more initiative and cooperative than other members. I believe Mckayla was a group leader, and I would say that I was her assistant in decision making and getting things done. We did not have any group conflict in general but there were some incidents of timing conflict. Also, McKayla seemed more decisive that made her somewhat controlling which is not helpful group setting if it is in excess

You will provide a hypothetical grade for your group.

I think our group deserve a grade of B because there is much more room for improvement in performance, equipment used for recording, and preparation beforehand. If I would grade everyone, McKayla is A, Bryan is B, Faisal is B, and finally me is A. Both me and McKayla put more effort in organizing group meetings, suggestions, decision making, and documents preparation.

This should be about a page to a page and a half long.
