Setting
What is the setting of the story?
The setting is a house with a yard.
Characterization
What do we learn about the “you” character? What motivates them?
“You” has the chance to be bold and explore what’s happening outside. Or, “you” can be more timid and go back to sleep.
Conflict
What is the source of conflict in the story? Is the “you” character in conflict with another character? Is the “you” character in conflict with themselves? Their environment? Their society?
At first I thought this was character vs self, but as Tammy read, I realized the primary conflict is between “you” and the aliens. “You” has to decide whether to investigate them or not and then has a chance to interact with them.
Branching Narrative
What does the branching narrative structure in this story add to the experience for you as a reader?
What would most of us do in an alien invasion? This story gives us a chance to explore different responses, instead of just showing one way of responding.
Meaningful Interactive Choices
How did the writer capture your interest with the types of choices they offered?
The contrast between going back to bed and going outside to explore was very clear. It made me want to go back and find out what happened if I decided to ignore the problem outside my window.
