MISSION STATEMENT

In this section, describe the mission of your creative content (movie, music, game, book, etc.). For example, is its mission to entertain, enlighten, educate, etc. This section should only be a few sentences long and resemble an elevator or teaser pitch. Spend some time and thought on this section, because it will assist you in creating a brand and marketing strategy for the content! (NOTE: You are NOT discussing the mission of your company or business here.)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Describe yourself here, including your qualifications, experience, and goals in the industry, as well as related goals for the company and product. Because this is a business document, be sure to write this section in the third—rather than first—person. You may re-use any relevant biographical information from prior projects to complete this project.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Briefly describe your company’s location, what it produces, and how it is set up (LLC, partnership, etc.)]. You may also discuss the company’s principals (President, CEO, etc.) You may discuss your Final Project business/company here, a hypothetical company created for this project, or a real company that you currently run.

PRODUCT

Describe the product you intend to self-publish/produce and self-distribute. You should be using the same book, music, game or AV work that you developed for Projects One and Two. You may also re-use any applicable content from prior projects to complete this section.

MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION

Many options are available to satisfy your need for quality manufacturing and distribution of your books/film/CD, etc.

Analyze and select the vendor you choose, whether print on demand or aggregator.

Discuss why this company has been selected, based on royalty rates and payment terms, inventory options, quality of product, etc.

Discuss whether you will have hard copy and/or digital distribution of your product.

Discuss what your retail price will be, your sales goals, and the specific distribution channels available to you through this POD or aggregator.

Discuss how a relationship with this company will allow you to generate a profit or price per unit sold. In other words, discuss the financial terms here. You are welcome to use a chart, graph, or bullet points to illustrate this information.

Discuss whether the distribution deal will be exclusive or non-exclusive.

Finally, discuss in detail what, if any, licensing and/or merchandising options exist for your product.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

One of your most important goals is to design and provide creative and effective marketing for your product.

Discuss what promotion and marketing strategies you have formulated for your book/music/film/game, etc. Specifically, discuss all of the various Web 2.0/social media marketing options available to you that we have explored in class.

Be sure to indicate information about your demographics/target market.

Discuss what, if any, brand or logo with which you identify your content.

Discuss who/what your competing products are and how your marketing strategy will capitalize on your relative strengths over them in the marketplace.

Provide a brief summary, conclusion or closing comments here.
