The objective of this paper is to evaluate and analyze how courtship has changed over time by discussing the text Modern Romance. Specifically, students should integrate key sociological definitions, concepts and theories to their analysis.
Your paper needs to be written in the style of a formal academic paper. I expect college level writing, including the use of proper grammar, complete sentences, accurate spelling, and in-text citations. In grading the papers, I will be looking for thoughtful reflection and analysis, application of course materials, and coherence. Please consider visiting the writing center (it is free for students!) if you feel as though you may need assistance. Information about the writing center can be found: https://www.colorado.edu/resources/writing-center
Minimum of 5 typewritten pages, double spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins. No page maximum. The cover page does not count towards the page minimum.
Your paper should have a cover page that lists your name, the book title, AND your chosen prompt. The cover page does not count towards the page minimum. No additional heading information is necessary on any of the subsequent pages.
You will need to choose ONE of the following prompts to address in your response. This is not a research paper and it can (and should) include your opinion. However, your paper MUST apply lecture material. Your goal is to respond to the prompt while clearly demonstrating you have read Modern Romance and can apply class themes to your analysis. You are not graded on your opinion. Instead, you are graded on your coherence, thoughtful analysis, and application of class material.
Your paper needs to apply Modern Romance to lecture material and/or supplemental readings. Provide specific examples to strengthen your answer. Do not rely on lengthy quotes, instead you can paraphrase key concepts and cite the source.
