Purpose
This assignment aims at providing students with an opportunity to reflect on organizational problems and challenges and apply concepts and frameworks covered within the subject to solving such problems.
In groups of 4, students must:
Step 1: Select an organisation you know and determine to what degree Fayol’s 14 principles apply.
Step 2: Analyse to what degree does this organisation fit Weber’s ideal bureaucracy model?
Step 3: If the selected organisation has a long history, investigate whether the management style has evolved. How closely does it follow the evolution of management theory generally? What social and environmental factors impacted on management style changes in this organisation?
