OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate learners’ critical thinking skills in analyzing ethical issues related to nursing practice and develop some strategies to provide safe and high-quality ethical care.
SCENARIO:
A junior nurse working in a busy ward was handed a syringe by a doctor and asked to give morphine to that patient The nurse went to the patient and gave the morphine as instructed. A little time later, the doctor said to the nurse “But the patient is still in pain”. At this point, the nurse realized that the morphine has been given to the wrong patient.
REQUIREMENT:
Analyze the above scenario, identify the ethical issue related to malpractice and develop suggestions to provide safe and quality ethical care in clinical practice.
