- Reflect on where you are in their theoretical orientation development journey. Where are you leaning and how does this fit with your value system and how you explain the whys of mental health.
- How do you feel about the idea of conceptualization integration vs technical integration (merging two or more theories into your explanation vs having a bigger bag of “tricks” and techniques you can draw from). Do you feel you can merge two theories conceptually before being competent in either? Is integrative therapy something that you develop into or a place to begin your theoretical orientation journey?
- Finally, you have a year before you begin your clinical sequence. Between now and then, what are two or more things you can do to prepare yourself to begin using a theoretical orientation (e.g., workshops, webinars, books, videos, journaling to explore values/beliefs, talk to counselors, volunteer, and more).
