During the AIDS pandemic, black, hispanic, and gay people who had low income and little knowledge of AIDS prevention were high risk populations. However, people at that time discriminated against the minorities since they thought the minorities get AIDS because of their gayness and race.
Women were being discriminated against too. The doctors wouldn’t test drugs on women before they released them because of their gender. So women with AIDS had to take drugs that were never tested on them.
Poor gay men usually lived in one community. They had to watch their closest friends and lovers die.
