For decades, social psychologists have studied the many ways people form, maintain, and change their atudes. Atude typically, though not always, influences behavior. As such, policians, adversers, and others use the art of persuasion—an aempt to change an atude—to create impacul messages intended to change behavior. Awareness about how atudes are formed and influenced can have important implicaons for individuals’ behaviors as cizens, consumers, friends, workers, and family members. For this Discussion, you examine messages that you have seen or heard within the past year and consider how these messages aempt to be persuasive

Post a 150- to 200-word response, in which you:

Select a persuasive message (i.e., a message that is persuasive to you or tries to be persuasive) which has been released, published, or posted within the past 12 months such as a(n): polical message, public service campaign, commercial on television, radio, or online, adversement found in a print or online magazine or newspaper, or op-ed. The message should not be a news story if the news story is an objecve report with the intent to inform and not persuade. In the first line of your post, idenfy the topic, issue, or product addressed in your chosen persuasive message. Briefly describe the message (e.g., adversement, campaign, commercial) you selected and who you think is its target audience. Provide a link to the message if you found it online. Based on your viewing of Professor Q (2023) video (hps://www.youtube.com/watch? v=axTPaPgluLc) and reading of Jhangiani and Tarry (2022) (hps://opentextbc.ca/socialpsychology/chapter/changing-atudes-through-persuasion/) , explain how the message aempts to form and/or change atudes or behaviors. Be specific and provide at least one example. Explain whether you think the message succeeds in being persuasive, and why. Be sure to review the Week 2 Discussion Rubric to understand the specific grading criteria your Instructor will use to evaluate your work.

Respond to at least one colleague’s inial post, who selected a topic, issue, or product different than the one you chose, in one or more of the following ways: Propose an alternate explanaon for why the message is or is not effecve in changing atudes. Imagine a different target audience and idenfy that target audience. What would you change about the message to make it more effecve for the new target audience? To demonstrate what you learned this week, be sure to support your work with informaon from the Learning Resources.
