Week 1 Roll Call Discussion Board
The Roll Call Discussion Board is designed so students can introduce themselves to the
instructor and other students. But we did this last semester so let’s be a little creative with
this school required activity. Please create a brief (~ 200 words) biographical sketch in which
you share:
- Your name
- Your location and time zone and cell number
- Your calming place – what do you visualize when you need to calm – a memory of a
special place or time in your life. When you close your eyes – Where do you go? Is it
a specific memory or just a place? If Specific, then – How old are you? Who is with
you, if anyone? Why does this calm you? Does it calm you? Does this exercise work
for you? Try it while you are writing this DB. Talk about it and how it feels.

You are asked to provide medication management to a 73-year-old African American male,
newlydiagnosed with depression. Medical history: 25-year history of hypertension, GERD, and
rheumatoid arthritis. Current medications: Prilosec QD, Naprosyn three times per day, atenolol 50
mg/day. No known drug allergies. For this first discussion, don’t suggest a specific medication or
even class of medication. Please take ONE of the five concerns below, discuss how this would
inform the choice of medication you prescribe and why: ethnicity, age, medical co-morbidity,
other medication use, and patient teaching. Provide one APA 7 citation.
