Assignment Objective
The objective of this assignment is for students to identify a child abuse and neglect topic or issue not covered in class lectures or assigned readings and develop a 10-minute slide presentation that critically examines both the practice and policy dimensions of the selected issue. Students will demonstrate the relevance of the topic to social work practice in child and family settings, using empirical research to support their analysis.

Presentation Requirements
Students will create a 10-minute presentation using slides (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar) and record their presentation using a medium of their choice (e.g., Zoom, Panopto, VoiceThread).

* If no formal public policies exist, explain why.
* What are the stated objectives of the policy or policies?
* Are there implicit or hidden agendas, unintended consequences, or political considerations?

4. Policy Implementation
* What social programs or interventions have been implemented as a result of these policies?
* How have these programs been operationalized in practice?
* Are the programs effective based on available evidence?
* What are the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation?

5. Intended and Actual Impact
* What was the intended impact of the policy or intervention?
* How was the social problem expected to change?
* How has child welfare practice (e.g., assessment, intervention, service delivery) been impacted by this policy?
* Where applicable, discuss disparities or differential impacts on vulnerable or marginalized populations.

Research and Scholarly Expectations
* Presentations must be grounded in empirical research, including:

* Include in-text citations on slides and a bibliography/reference slide.
