Ezequiel Rodriguez If I happen to tell you that you were dying

Ezequiel Rodriguez

If I happen to tell you that you were dying and I’ll tell you all you need to do in order to survive, But yet you refuse to do anything about rescuing yourself. That’s exactly what’s happening to our oceans. We have a Ocean that is dying by the hands of industrial fishing pollution and its all being done  by the hands of us human. The sad part about this is if the oceans die so do we. So why do we keep destroying Our oceans. I chosen to take this topic because I found it to be informative and important to know and understand how dire the problem of our seas is. I’m going to be covering the damage the commercial fishing is doing to our ocean’s. For my research I’m going to be using Seaspiracy a documentary in Netflix directed by Ali Tabrizi as my main source of information.

The documentary does a great job in explaining how important the eco diversity is to our planet. Our planet is mostly cover in water and it’s home the millions of species that contributed to our eco-diversity creating an abundance of life in our blue pearl of a planet.  The gran fishing industries are destroying entire ecosystem. In doing so the balance of our oceans is being push to the tipping point of no return and went it happen we will die alone we our oceans. Fishing industries slaughter about 100 million sharks every year. Shark are portrayed as killing machine that eat everything in the ocean even human but on average only 12 human a year get kill by a shark. In fact lightning kills more people than sharks do and yet some people deeply despise sharks.

One interesting fact I didn’t know about the before seeing the documentary is that Oceans moisturize the air that we humans breathe. If the ocean dies then we could be in serious danger.  The first issue we most address is overfishing which is destroying the marine ecosystem and it is causing the numbers of fish to deplete by a significant amount. Also, we are considered a fish’s main predator because of restaurants and homes containing fish products. Most scientists predict that most seafood around the world will deplete by 2048. Another serious problem is that most humans don’t protect the oceans which take up 70 percent of the Earth. We only protect about 0.6 percent of the oceans.

If you ever been to the ocean it’s hard to imagine such massive body of water being destroy by us. But that’s exactly what’s happening. We like to think of pollution as us average human trash being Dump into our oceans. But the truth is that commercial fishing makes up that majority of the ocean trash. Fishing nets are good at doing one thing and that’s Trapping everything in it’s way
