You will also provide supporting documentation.ObectivesThe objectives of this assignment are to:1. Apply acquired knowledge and skill of planning an educational interactive environment(game, simulation, or virtual world).2. Apply acquired knowledge and skill of documenting the development of an educationalinteractive environment (game, simulation, or virtual world).3. Creatively design an interactive digital environment (game, simulation, or virtual world)using existing development software4. Present the final digital artifact to a live class audience.Link to Learning OutcomesK1 ,S1, K2, S2, RC1, S3InstructionsThere are two parts to this assignment :1. Part 1 will be completed as a planning and design document (template is provided). Besure to review the rubric as you work on the assignment.2. Part 2 of the assignment will be completed using whichever technologies are freelyavailable and appropriate for you.Part 1: Planning and Designing the Interactive Environment ProcessThe purpose of this part of the assignment is to document the interative enviroment processplanning and design process.1. Draft the planning and design report (use the provided template) that outlines theplanning and development2. Provide a synopsis of your educational interactive environment (game, simulation, orvirtual world). This is a summary of your project, how it works, the assumptions that youmade, and relevant background information.3. Capture the specific design decisions that were made.4. Include an analysis of your simulation or game including how someone would use it andpossible results, and what and how a user would learn from it.1. Upload your final report to the assignment folder in VLE. Give your file a clear name(your name and assignment #, i.e.LastName_First_Name_Assignment1)Part 2: Designing and Developing an Educational Game or SimulationThe purpose of this part of the assignment is to develop a digital interactive environment(game, simulation, or virtual world) that has clear learning objectives and audience.1. Identify the software you will use to develop your digital project. It can be developedusing whichever technologies are available and appropriate for you.2. Using the parameters you set in your planning template, the game should be developedin a way that is clear on how it would be useful for student learning.3. The game does not need to stand on its own. I.e., it can be used by a teacher or trainer,or it can be used as extra materials.4. You will complete the game design process from beginning to end. The game may becreated using any platform and can be delivered using any digital medium (e.g., mobileapp, computer program, online, etc.).5. Submit the final game or link to the designated area in the VLE. Be sure that theinstructor can access the project readily by providing login information etc., if needed.Note: You will begin the writing your planning process, your ongoing documentation andexperiences, and you final observations as you develop the game. Use the class resources andothers that you locate to support your process. Cite supporting documentation, readings andother materials that you used to prepare your project.Assessment Criteria:A rubric (attached) will be used to assess your game or simulation, but some criteria forevaluating your simulation include:1. Ease of use—can a learner figure out how to use the game or simulation?2. Choice of learning goals—does the design include appropriate learning goals andobjectives?3. Achievement of learning goals—does the game or simulation fit the learning goals?4. Engagement—is the game engaging for the user?5. Feedback—does the game or simulation represent things in a useful way to the user,e.g., scores, graphs, badges, etc.6. Aesthetics—is it well organized and attractive to look at?7. Documentation— is the instructional design and game design planning process fullyevident and documented?8. Oral Component—Presentation of your game or simulation where you will prepare toshare your final product at the end of the semester in class.* Late submissions will be penalized .5 of a point per day. For example, 1 day late means thatthe highest grade you can receive will be 9.5/10, two days late means the highest possiblegrade is 9/10, etc.** Please familiarize yourself with the rules of academic honesty.
