Comprehensive Essay Reflection

Each and every person has their own personal values, values are meaningful and paramount to every individual, an organization or a group people. Personal values contributes to how a person carries themselves and how they treat other people, every individual has their own values based on their backgrounds, life experiences and even the environment, our values guide us through life and they guide us in our life journey and the people in our lives.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to the success of a person and they can sometimes affect a person. The first factor is a sense of self and place, this factor defines you as person, your values, beliefs, skills and abilities, these all contribute to your identity as an individual. A sense of self and place makes you unique from other people, it makes you stand out, this will affect students/individuals in a good and beneficial way as it will pave way for their success considering that they are able to make paramount choices and know what they want in life. If one doesn’t have a strong sense of self and place then it will be hard to make some life choices.

The second factor is personal values, as mentioned above personal values are what makes you different from other people, they guide you through life and your life choices. Personal values are paramount and each individual should stick to what they believe in, in order to succeed, although they can sometimes affect students in a bad way, in a way that they can limit what the students really wants and kind of oppress them into settling for what they don’t really like. The third factor is engagement, student engagement has it’s positive and negative effects, it can affect a students negatively if they lack confidence to speak out and affect them positively if they can.

Engagement between students can also mould their success considering that they will be able to state whatever it is that they want and want to achieve, express their selves freely and connect with people, so it will be easier for them to work with colleagues. The last factor is career exploration and preparation, this will open doors for them, give them more knowledge on career options and what is the suitable option for them, it paves way for them to prepare for their careers and develop healthy relations with their colleagues in the work environment. It encourages them to work hard towards achieving their goals and to develop them in a way that benefits them.

I personally prefer the factor ”sense of self and place” because I believe that it can build one’s success and mould them into better versions of themselves. It is quite paramount to know your sense of self and place in order to know where you are going and to also be able to identity your life goals, it also contributes to me standing out and being unique and creating goals that benefit me and my future and knowing what interest me and what doesn’t interest me as a person.
