Why did you choose your specialty? Was there a specific person, event or experience (or all three) that influenced your decision? Provide as much detail as possible (time, location, people involved, specific situation, action taken and result/outcome).

While learning IT, my grandmother got diagnosed with cancer. I was only proven that I was helpless no matter what skills I had to help someone so closely related to me. I was disappointed in what I was able to do and provide. This made me push myself into medicine in hopes to mix IT and medicine for the betterment of Geriatric and hospice/palliative care.

I choose my specialty because I like the variety and exposure it provides me as a physician

Long term relationships with patients: Involvement with OB & Peds lets me provide care for the whole family

Initial involvement of diagnosing and managing a patient lets me have a special relationship with my patient rather than on specialized or referral basis.

I like the inpatient/outpatient clinical experience as well as the administrative roles

Through your education, was there something that you learned about yourself that has further reinforced your conviction for the field?

Medicine has taught me self-love, the importance of wellness and mental health. Medicine has taught me the value of discipline, consistency, and efficiency. Medicine taught me the compound effect: with the improvement of 1% everyday, a person can achieve all their goals with the right mindset and habits.

If accepted, how will you make a difference in the residency program? In other words, what sets you apart from other applicants? Why should the program choose you over someone else? Be specific.

Determination is one of my qualities which aids in my performance. I am always very determined to try my 100% no matter what the circumstances are.

Faith/Hope is always needed is any profession and in medicine doctors are subjected to hardships and struggles every day that others don’t. It plays a key role on moving forward and improving ourselves every day.

Resourcefulness because as doctor we face situations that are not always ideal and being resourceful is a skill needed my any physician to handle any situation and future ones that might arise.

List some of your hobbies and explain how they enhance your character. Please relate this to medicine in general, and your specialty in specific.

With interest in Bodybuilding, Fitness, Nutrition, I believe I can help patients prevent future problems by enforcing healthy lifestyle living. I truly do believe; fitness and nutrition have a lot to do with what we face in the future and what health problems we will tend to face due to how we treat ourselves now.

What is an accomplishments you are proud of and why?

One of my greatest accomplishments is being able to achieve a complete body transformation. I was able to lose about 50 pounds in a course of 6 months by changing my diet and forcing myself to fall in love with nutrition and exercise to make it a lifestyle.

What are you looking for in a residency program? What would you like to gain out of this experience? What kind of environment will help you learn? What kind of faculty? Include everything you might be looking for (clinical experience, research, community outreach, etc.)

I’m looking for an opportunity to enhance my skills and deliver the best patient care as possible. I would like to further my education in geriatrics in family medicine, in the most effective and efficient way as possible. I enjoy working with other people around me because I always learn something every day. I feel that by working in proximity, we can inspire each other, collaborate better, and communicate effectively to optimize performance.

How have you improved your knowledge in the field through classes, seminars, formal research, volunteer activities, or professional interactions with other physicians and professionals in the field?

After starting rotations, I was able to experience both inpatient and outpatient settings, and how dynamic healthcare is. I was also grateful to have the chance in tele-med rotations and how much it has helped during the pandemic when everyone was under lock down and healthcare was in dire need of adapting to the new world. Tele-med is something I feel will be the future.

Programming helped me analyze a vast amount of data and interpret it through charts and graphs. Programming has helped me see how pharmaceutical clinical trials can be shorted and how cost can be cut when using the right programs to better predict if new drugs in the market are eligible with certain adverse effects. This will be me in staying in the touch with the latest research on pharmaceutical drugs and how it affects patient care.

What is your vision as a future physician? List at least one short-term (3-5 years) and one long-term (5-10 years) career goal and what have you done/intend to do to achieve these goals.

As a future physician I would like to integrate Technology with healthcare more than what it is now. We have access to all the information in the world in a matter of seconds, but it’s not the same way with healthcare. I would like to make it accessible for anyone in the world to have access the doctors with a click of a button.

In the next 3-5 years I would want to further my education to perfect my skills and start implementing ideas what will enhance healthcare and the accessibility for it. And 5-10 years, I expected to have created a system in place that helps me delivery the care I wish to promise, with the help of my co-workers and faculty.

I have learned that with the mix of technology and medicine, Health care can be 100x times better than it is today. Living in the 21st generation, and having the access to the internet, I’ve realized that there is a lot of opportunity to deliver the #1 best service of people in need all around the world. Many people in third world countries also deserve the access to intensive training and medical education, medical doctors located in the United States have gone through.
