Requirements for McKendree General Education Course Assignment – Presentation

This course prepares students to gain familiarity with the basics of computer terminology and operation by meeting Student Performance Indicator 4.2 b-Creating (SPI 4.2b). To achieve the SPI 4.2b, students will research a topic that addresses how technologies have affected society/daily lives.

Students will utilize Microsoft Office suite software (PowerPoint, and Excel) to create various Microsoft Office documents (artifacts).

Students will create one artifact (PowerPoint) for the presentation. The PowerPoint artifact will be the main presentation tool and Excel will be used to represent supporting data (such as a spreadsheet, timeline or charts). The Excel results will be incorporated into the PowerPoint.

Students will research and analyze how a specific technology (such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS), barcodes, drones, robots, social media, artificial intelligence, etc.…) or technologies of a specific professional field (such as finances, medical field, education, entertainment, law enforcement, military, communication, etc.…) have progressed and changed society/daily lives

Begin to create the necessary documents for the assignment. Plan your presentation before you begin. Be sure your presentation is well organized. Don’t forget to save often.

Include at least the following:

New presentation with a theme of your choice.

Title slide with your name on it. Change the font and font size of the title. Use bold for the title.

At least 14 other slides (which makes a total of 15 for the presentation) with at least 3 different slide layouts. Remember to key just bulleted items on the slides. Don’t put entire sentences. At least one slide should have a multilevel bulleted list.

At least one slide must reflect data in a spreadsheet, timeline, or chart (this is the use of Excel)

Speaker’s notes for at least ten slides. (Bottom pane in normal view) This is where the sentences go to reflect the research you have conducted on the subject about the bulleted items.

At least 3 graphics. You may include pictures you have legally downloaded or clip art.

Slide transition of your choice for all slides

Entrance animation for at least two graphic objects (picture, clip art, etc.).

The above requirements are the minimum expected. Feel free to add additional elements and be creative.
