development in policies and strategic planning. Students will review the impact of

recent public health measures, changes, and how understanding of health has

influenced responses to those measures. It is important that healthcare support staff

have a sound understanding of the significance of the role of public health regulatory

bodies, skills and knowledge frameworks in promoting health improvements across

communities.

UNIT A: ASSIGNMENT BRIEF AND GUIDANCE

Scenario:

Due to the recent health pandemic, your team has the responsibility of educating the local community on health improvement. As a senior member of this team, you have been assigned to develop a small-scale activity that supports a recent national strategic public health initiative.

To do this, you will first need to produce a report on the rationale behind the activity to your team, and then work with them to develop the activity and once completed, reflect on the success of the activity in improving the health education of local people who you engaged.

Activity 1- Report must (Cover LO1- LO2)

Write a report based upon the following title: The influences of historical antecedents on the development of contemporary research, policy and practice in public health.

Within the report, you will need to evaluate the history which has shaped the development of current public health service provision and analyse the evidence regarding improvements in health of the population as a result of recent health policies developed from previous research and strategy.

Your report should include:

● An explanation of understanding of what public health is and how it has changed over time.

● Analysis of current public health issues that affect own home country today in relation to historical antecedents.

UNIT B

Within the report, choose one national public health priority that impacts people in your local area within UK. and:

● Justify your decision to focus on this priority and its related strategy instead of others. Explain how research contributes to the development of national policy giving examples related to one area of a public health concern.

● Assess how public health research has informed the development of policies in relation to the specific national public health priority.

● Analyse the evidence regarding improvements in the health of the local population as a result of recent health policies developed from previous research and strategy.

✓ The main body of the report should be concise, formal business report.

✓ Use at least 1.5 spacing and Times New Roman/ Arial font size 12.

✓ Use headings, paragraphs, and subsections as appropriate.

✓ Support the work with research, in-text citations, as well as statistics when relevant.

✓ Provide Conclusion, evaluation, and recommendation.

✓ Use Appendices (if any)

✓ Use the Harvard Referencing Style for intext citation and reference list.

✓ Provide a reference list using the Harvard referencing system.

✓ Write within the word limit of 2000 words (+/- 10%) excluding the cover page (if any), contents page, list of references and appendices. You will not be penalised for exceeding this.
