Discussion Assignment Instructions

Overview

Discussions in online classes serve as a substitute for conversations in residential classes. The student will complete 2 Discussions in this course. Each graded Discussion will require the student to respond to separate questions/topics, as well as reply to 2 classmates.

Discussion: We the Champions – The purpose of this assignment is to create an opportunity to connect students and support a collaborative community through inviting learners to interact with one another by sharing some information about themselves. It will also equip you to think about the Liberty University mission and vision. You will post and initial thread of 150+ words by Thursday and reply to two classmates with 75+ words per reply by Monday.

Discussion: Reflection on Course Goals – The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to reflect back on the course. It will gauge your understanding with key concepts and objectives. You will post and initial thread of at least 150 words by Thursday and reply to two classmates with at least 75 words per reply by Monday.

Instructions

Look at the grading rubric before you begin. All threads and replies must be professional in content and delivery. You will be graded on (a) how well your thread addresses the main points; (b) two substantive replies to your fellow classmates; and (c) mechanics such as grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.

Create an original thread and respond to all questions/topics. Each thread should demonstrate course-related knowledge. Write one paragraph for each question/topic of at least 75 words totaling a minimum of 150 words for the entire thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned Module: Week, so that other students have a chance to respond before Monday.

Reply to 2 different classmates. Replies should add to the conversation and go beyond “I agree”. Replies should provide substantive additional thoughts regarding classmates’ threads. Post 2 replies of at least 75 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the assigned Module: Week.

Although not required for Discussions in this course, any scholarly sources cited (i.e. academic journal articles) must have been published within the last five years. Other acceptable sources include the textbook and the Bible.

Note: In UNIV 104, you will be able to read and interact with your classmates’ threads before you submit your thread; however, a majority of courses within Liberty University use the Post-First feature on Discussions. In courses that use Post-First, you will only be able to read and interact with your classmates’ threads after you have submitted your thread in response to the provided prompt.
