Directions: You are creating ‘extended’ endings for these stories (endings that pick up where the story left off). You are adding your twist to the story since you are writing where the original author left off. Step 1: Read the following stories:a) ‘Soul Gone Home’ p. 263-267 (a short play by Langston Hughes)b) ‘The Stronger’ p.394-397 (a short play)c) ‘Lawing and Jawing’ p. 657-664 (stop at the word ‘Curtain’ at the top of the page)_____________________________________Step 2: Once you have read all three short plays, choose TWO of the plays to do your extended story ending. ______________________________________Step 3: a) Write a one-page extended ending for both of the readings that you selected. Use 12-point font in Times New Roman. Also, double-space your ending. You should have a 2-page assignment minimum. Also, make sure you write your ending in the format that the original reading has (for example, if the original is a play, write in play format. More about that later.) 100 points each=200 pointsb) Submit both papers. Make sure to label the play that you are extending. Also, make sure the story that you write fits what has already happened in the story. Your extension of the story/play needs to be believable. Some additional notes:As you read each story, think about these 2 questions:1) What do I see happening after the end of the story as it is written?2) How would I continue this story?NOTE: Do not change the story as it is already written. You are picking up where the story leaves off and keeping it going. Please continue the play or short story in the same style in which it was written. This is your time to write creatively. Use dialog that is similar to the dialog already in the play/story when necessary. Use character names, etc. as they are given in the play/story. Add characters if you like, but make sure I know who these characters are. This assignment should not sound like a paper. It should sound like a story. Be very creative. I like creativity.
