This assignment is designed to help you practice identifying different types of nonverbal communication. Read the instructions below, watch the two lecture videos watch the clip from the show Friends complete the exercise below.
In this episode of Friends Rachel has been trying to get over her feelings for her friend, Ross. She goes on a first date with a man, gets drunk and ends up calling and leaving a voicemail for Ross stating that she is “over him.” Ross has been in love with her since they were in high school but he’s never told her. He has tried to move on and is now in a happy relationship with his girlfriend, Julie. In the morning Rachel is tired, hungover and does not remember that she has called Ross the night before.
As you watch the clip look for any three forms of nonverbal form of communication that either Ross or Rachel use and describe what they are doing. Your description should clearly demonstrate that you know what the form of nonverbal communication means. Use as much detail as possible so I will know which specific moment you’re describing.
