| Notes for students For undergraduate modules: a score of 40% or above represents a pass performance at honours level. late submission of any item of coursework for each day or part thereof (or for hard copy submission only, working day or part thereof) for up to five days after the published deadline, coursework relating to modules at Levels 0, 4, 5, 6 submitted late (including deferred coursework, but with the exception of referred coursework), will have the numeric grade reduced by 10 grade points until or unless the numeric grade reaches or is 40. Where the numeric grade awarded for the assessment is less than 40, no lateness penalty will be applied. For postgraduate modules: a score of 50% or above represents a pass mark. late submission of any item of coursework for each day or part thereof (or for hard copy submission only, working day or part thereof) for up to five days after the published deadline, coursework relating to modules at Level 7 submitted late (including deferred coursework, but with the exception of referred coursework), will have the numeric grade reduced by 10 grade points until or unless the numeric grade reaches or is 50. Where the numeric grade awarded for the assessment is less than 50, no lateness penalty will be applied. Late submission of referred coursework will automatically be awarded a grade of zero (0). Coursework (including deferred coursework) submitted later than five days (five working days in the case of hard copy submission) after the published deadline will be awarded a grade of zero (0). | This Assignment assesses the following module Learning Outcomes (from Definitive Module Document): acquire detailed knowledge of the ethical standards from relevant professional bodies (such as the BCS Code of Conduct) to which a computing professional is expected to adhere; understand the current computing technological, commercial and economic contexts where social, ethical and legal issues and dilemmas may arise; be able to produce outputs and documentation of those outputs to demonstrate compliance with legal, ethical and professional standards; be able to summarize high profile cases where the meaning of social, legal and ethical issues have been elaborated in detail. |
| Assignment Brief: A scenario will be presented, and you will be asked to respond to 3 questions relating to the ethical issues that the scenario raises. The word count for your response to each question is 300, thus giving a total of 900 words. You may use existing resources on Canvas as well as online, but this is an individual assignment and you must not involve anyone else in your work in any way. You have 2 hours to complete and submit your work. You are strongly recommended to leave at least 15 minutes for submitting your work. For example, you would take 1 hour 45 minutes on answer the questions which allows 15 minutes to submit the work. |

Distinction Concise answer, within the word limit. Excellent identification of relevant ethical issues supported by a systematic analysis of how the issues are pertinent to the scenario. This gives a total of 30 marks available in this assignment. |
