This Assignment assesses the following module Learning Outcomes (from Definitive Module Document):

acquire detailed knowledge of the ethical standards from relevant professional bodies (such as the BCS Code of Conduct) to which a computing professional is expected to adhere; understand the current computing technological, commercial and economic contexts where social, ethical and legal issues and dilemmas may arise; be able to produce outputs and documentation of those outputs to demonstrate compliance with legal, ethical and professional standards; be able to summarize high profile cases where the meaning of social, legal and ethical issues have been elaborated in detail.

Assignment Brief:

A scenario will be presented, and you will be asked to respond to 3 questions relating to the ethical issues that the scenario raises. The word count for your response to each question is 300, thus giving a total of 900 words. You may use existing resources on Canvas as well as online, but this is an individual assignment and you must not involve anyone else in your work in any way. You have 2 hours to complete and submit your work. You are strongly recommended to leave at least 15 minutes for submitting your work. For example, you would take 1 hour 45 minutes on answer the questions which allows 15 minutes to submit the work.

Submission Requirements:

You are required to submit your response on a word template (provided).

For each question, marks will be awarded for: 7-10  No submission or no relevant work submitted  Clear fail  Lack of consideration of relevant ethical issues, limited or absent analysis. Marginal fail. Some ethical issues identified, but limited analysis Satisfactory Relevant ethical issues are identified and supported by a sound analysis of how they may relate to the scenario.

Commendation  Concise answer, within the word limit.  Very good identification of relevant ethical issues supported by a well constructed and argued analysis of how the issues are pertinent to the scenario.

Distinction  Concise answer, within the word limit.  Excellent identification of relevant ethical issues supported by a systematic analysis of how the issues are pertinent to the scenario.

This gives a total of 30 marks available in this assignment.
