Describe the change theory that relates most closely to the change (Chapter 2).
Discuss the innovation how it relates to Rogers’ five factors as determinants of successful planned change (Chapter 2, pg. 42).
Please provide at least one scholarly reference in addition to the Huber textbook. Use APA format and provided in-text citations and references. The paper should be 3 – 5 pages, not including the title and reference page.
Marcus Garvey
Marcus Garvey was a Jamaica born leader of a revolution to empower people of color worldwide.
His was the first widespread movement of this kind. His initial aim was to make people of color realize they were people too and didn’t need to consider themselves second class citizens.
He had a desire to create an economic engine for people of color – an associate world where blacks owned their own businesses and economically supported one another separate from the greater economics of the world at large.
His demise stemmed from his arrest for mail fraud. He’d already alienated many with a desire to create an African nation for people of color to “return” to from other places on the planet. His business ventures began to crumble and after being jailed, he was deported from the U.S. to Jamaica, where his influence worldwide was lessened.
His position was extreme to many, and he was maybe too powerful for his own good. Further, his message of empowerment for those of color is one that is still enjoyed today by many.
