Budget Evaluation
Research a public-sector-agency budget and evaluate what its goals and objectives are. Determine whether it budgets according to its objectives and goals. Make recommendations for any adjustments to the budget citing potential increases / decreases in revenue and expenditures to better account for its goals and objectives.
Include a link or reference to specific budget items. For example, the City of Milwaukee claims that it is in favor of reducing pollution and use of landfills, so they have moved to a 2 week recycling schedule (from 3 weeks). In order to facilitate this, they applied for and received a grant from The Recycling Partnership, a nonprofit organization utilizing public-private partnerships to transform recycling all across America. The grant increased access to educational materials about this service improvement and the purchase of additional recycling carts for deployment to residents.
You should identify:
The agency
Its mission / goals
How much the overall budget is (if you can determine it)
identify and discuss examples in which it spends / doesn’t spend money on its goals
Try to identify the amount it spends and if that is a proper amount in relation to its goals / mission.
