a) Explain the various forms of elder abuse; its reasons and impact of the co-occurring factors. Pay attention to the three underlines and answer accordingly.
b) Apply the relevant skills in engaging and intervening on each of the following hypothetical cases of elder abuse and/or neglect. You may add on additional information on the family background, where relevant.
i) A son who refuses to take his elderly father, who has dementia, for his medical appointments.
ii) A maid who ignores the employer’s instruction to feed the elderly with a soft diet or porridge but instead chooses either to force-feed the elderly with rice or to skip meals entirely.
iii) An elderly with Parkinson’s disease, living alone in her owned private apartment, and has gone lost on few occasions while venturing out to get her meals.
