This assignment is designed to familiarize students with the format and reading process of academic journal articles. Students are expected to use the reading strategies taught in class during Week 3 & 4, as well as outlining and summarizing. Extension/Late Policy: Any assignments received after the due date and time will receive a late deduction of 10% per day.For each subsequent day that an assignment is late, 10% will be deducted. It will also help students plan the summary they will write in Part 2. Choose an academic article from the Niagara College Library Database on any topic you wish. In APA style, write the citation information of the article so that I can find the text you read. (Make sure I can find the text based on your reference. If I can’t read it, I can’t mark your assignment!) Identify the following parts of the article and leave a reference (page and line number) so that I can find itThe introduction Each body paragraph Any time the writer(s) have used a quote The conclusion Provide the sentence from the article that represents:The overall main idea/topic/thesis The topic sentence of each body paragraph Any headings Any subheadings Transition words or phrases Find three examples of unneeded details, you will NOT need to include them in your summary: PART 2: SUMMARIZE THE ARTICLE Please refer to slides from Week 4 to review how to write a summary. Using your annotations on structure and content in Part 1, type a single paragraph of no more than 250 words summarizing the work. Use full and complete sentences and use the third person perspective. Do not quote whole sentences from the work (but feel free to use important terms) and do not use quotation marks in your summary.
