Module Learning Outcomes
There are four learning outcomes for the module and by the time you have completed it, it is envisaged that you will be able to:
Critically analyse how national politics and policy making is influenced by globalisation and demographic change; and the impact these have on local decision-making about service delivery and resource allocation.
Critically review the leadership challenges in implementing policy changes at a local level, including marketing and communicating the changes internally and externally
Critically evaluate how the implementation of policy is sustained through governance and regulatory mechanisms in local organisations
Examine and evaluate local responses to national and international policy drivers and critically discuss the tensions which can arise when policy is translated into practice.
Coursework 2 (3000 words)
South Africa has the highest prevalence of HIV in the world (Satoh & Boyer, 2019). The rates of HIV among adolescent girls and young women aged between 15 – 24 are disproportionally high within the population (Dellar, Dlamini and Karim. 2015).
Identify two or three key policies that have been implemented in South Africa since 2010 and critically evaluate how they were implemented and their effectiveness.
Illustrate your discussion with examples and cases explored through academic literature researched that demonstrates your critical application of the learning outcomes. Your answer should be comprehensive and meet each of the learning outcomes. You are allowed +/- 10% of the word limit. Marks are awarded in accordance with the above brief, clearly demonstrating achievement of the learning outcomes
